Archived from groups: alt>www>webmaster (more info?)

I am starting a local city guide and have been looking around the web for
the following:

1). A way to offer ticket purchase for local events....concerts , plays,
sporting events.
2). Pull in local news briefs...

I cannot seem to find services that offer what I am looking for. Any
suggestions?

Warmest Regards
Rick Sweeney

There are some affilite programs for selling tickets from other buyers, but
for box office, Ticketmaster <spit> pretty much has that market sewn up. If
the venue doesn't work through them, you could contact them and see about
offering tickets to events there, or maybe they'll do a pay per click with
you as you're a very targeted site.

Depends on the market you're in. Most of the news content sites aren't free
anymore, especially for local news. If there's a local paper that wouldn't
consider themselves competition for your site maybe they would let you pull
content with PHP, or maybe they'll create a generic page of headlines for
your site that you could pull either with PHP or WGET with a cron job.

Thanks.....I will check out the Affilite's and get with Ticketmaster to see
if they would be interested.

I beilive the site would be in direct competiotion with the local news guys,
but I will check with them
on this.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will give it a go.

Rick
