Where is the setting that determines how many simultaneous HTTP downloads
each is user is allow to have? Currently, someone connects to my website,
starts downloading one item, then starts another. No problem. Tries to
download a third, problem - it just hangs there until one of the other
downloads completes. Once that is done, the File Save dialog appears. I
would like to raise this from 2 connections to 4.

Can I do that?

- Dave

if I'm not mistaken that's handled by the client side not the server side...

You mean it's a setting on my browser? Because both Firebird and Internet
Explorer exhibit the same behaviour - only 2 concurrent downloads per
browser.

Are you sure HTTP downloads?
In IIS, website properties, default tab.

Similar setting for <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://FTP." target="_blank">FTP.</a>

Also, the website can specifiy numbers of connections.

Remember, typically surfing a page, each object on the
page is downloaded separately.

That is done at the client.

That behavior comes from the WinInet API, which IE uses. It sounds like
Firebird is also using it (or emulating that behavior). For example, the
old Netscape Navigator could start up as many simultaneous HTTP downloads as
your bandwidth could handle -- it did not use WinInet.

Actually this is because HTTP 1.1 standard (RFC 2616) says that each client
should open no more than 2 connections.

Glad to see products/API that actually obey the spec...
