Hi All,
I have a problem with a DR test - specifically, I am trying to
restore an existing IIS config from backup, and while I can restore
the file structure, the MetaBase.xml file is apparently unloadable due
to a MachineKeys conflict. So, I thought, that's fine - I restored the
keys from the backup tape to the appropriate dir in All Users, and
changed the registry key to reflect the original name.

Didn't work though. What am I missing here? I thought all I needed
was the xml files from the inetsrv dir and the machine keys?

Hi,

The supported way to backup and restore the metabase (on a new installation)
is to encrypt the metabase backup with a password, thus removing the need
for the machine key.
