I've seen this quite a bit of late (4th case in about a week). This is a
bug in the Oracle client (the DB is fine). In fact, the client is not even
connected to the DB at the time of the failure. Basically, it starts
tripping over itself trying to get connected. If you get the latest client
patches on there it should get you past the problem.
