Internet explorer cannot download xxx from yyy

I am using win 2003 with IIS 6.

I am sharing a folder containing files with different file extensions,
some not known by windows.
Only the file-types known by windows can be downloaded (.exe,.txt
....). The others (e.g .sis) can not. The error code (after
rightclicking->save target as) is the one in the subject. What am I
missing? (it works on win 2000)

Hello,

This is because IIS 6.0 does not serve unknown file extensions. Please see
KB Article 326965 for an explanation and solution.
