We have an external website run by an ISP www.mycomp.com I want to open up our intranet server privatename.com to some of our customers. I would like ot to be in the form server.mycomp.com. Can someone point me to what IIS and DNS settings I have to change.

Hi,

You would need to add an A or C name in DNS and set up the host header on
privatename.com to include server.mycomp.com (assuming it's not using "All
IP addresses")

Info on host headers:

thanks for that, however I don't control the www.mycomp.com If I create an A name in my DNS won't I have have to add a cname to the www.mycomp.com ?

I don't want to start adding thinks and suddenly loose the www.mycomp.com for my internal users

Hi,

If you have mycomp.com as a C name, then you would add an A name under
mycomp.com for server. If you don't control the DNS settings for
mycomp.com, then you would have to contact the people that do
