Hello,
I have just got a new SSL certificate for one of our customers after a
few weeks of waiting for the company/domain info to be verified.
I've come to install it on the customers server, but it looks like
they've been in during the past few weeks since I generated the csr
and messed with IIS.
The certificate wizard does not give me the 'Process existing
certificate request' option I would expect to see and now gives the
normal 'Create a new request', 'import a certificate', etc etc start
screen.
I can only presume they have deleted the website and re-created it.
Am i right in thinking that doing this in the middle of a certificate
request will have wiped out the private key, meaning i'll have to
generate a new csr and resubmit for signing, or can I retrieve the
private key somehow and install the certificate anyway.
Regards,
Matt >> Stay informed about: Installing SSL certificate after website deleted |

Hi Matt,
You will need to regenerate the CSR (create a new request) and then have the
CA rekey the certificate to that new CSR. Most CAs will do it at no cost
for a couple of rekeys initially.
