Howdy -

I'm trying to install IIS on my PC. The installation process asks for the
WinXP disc to get the file zClientm.ex_. I point the installation to the
proper place and the install says, "I can't find it" even though it's there.

I've searched Google groups and this seems to be a prevalent issue, but I
can't find anyone with a solution.

Any ideas ?

Mike

Michael-

The one time I've seen someone get around this without reinstalling, they
had to uninstall the games that came with Windows - Solitaire, Minesweeper,
etc - the IIS install worked after that.

Don't ask me why.

Greg -

Chalk another one up to Microsoft strangeness ... It worked.

After I removed the Games module, I uninstalled IIS (it looked like it was
installed but it wasn't working) and reinstalled IIS. Viola !

Thanks,

Mike

This crazy fix really worked! I've been trying for 2-3 days to get IIS
installed. Since our *fantastic* (Hitler-like) IT department, who
confiscated my XP Pro CD, had lost track of my XP Pro CD, I chased after
various versions of Pro trying to figure out which one had the right
version of these modules. That ain't it. 10 XP Pro CD's later...

I found this fix somewhere else, but looked for Games in the Add/Remove
programs and didn't see any. However, clever Microsoft has hidden them
as a Windows component under Accessories in the add/remove Windows
components area. Once I uninstalled games, and fully un-installed IIS
rebooted, and re-installed IIS, it seems to be working properly now....
argh Microsoft... you love them and hate them (they're just programmers
like us!)
