Um, anybody know what to do when the built-in WinXP Pro
server stops...serving? The Web Client and IIS in general
don't like me anymore--i.e., they no longer
work/stop/start as services. Thus, I'm stuck. I'm not
fond of the idea of reinstalling Windows, but oh, well.

OK...so
http://localhost is Cannot Find Server
however
ping 127.0.0.1 is fine (<1ms)

I understand it not.
HELP!

I have had "issues" with IIS on XP, similiarly for some reason, it just quit
responding/sploded/went down the toilet.

I don't know why this happens....but I have figured out how to get it to the
point where you can at least uninstall iis.

Open services, disable iis service and ALL related services... SMTP, FTP,
etc.

Reboot.

I have given up on iis on XP because it's too squirlly. Personally, I think
it has something to do with the FTP service. But I can't confirm that.

Have you tried:

Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings ->
Uncheck everything.

Using the IP:

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://" target="_blank">http://</a>{IP_Address}/

looking at the event viewer and posting the relevant messages?
