Post subject: IIS won't start, no error message
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hello,

I have installed IIS 5.0 on a Win2000Pro machine. The installation
seemed to go allright. The service has started but when I go to Control
Panel / System Management / Internet Information Service, the Standard
Website, FTPsite and SMTP are Stopped. When I rightclick and click
Start, it gives me a message that the service has not answered the
start-order in the right way (or something to that effect; it is in
Dutch).
Also, when I go to Help, there is a link in there, when I click that I
get a 404, even when going to the folder where the files are and click
on them I get a 404.
The Personal Web Manager tells me that Publishing is possible but there
is no introductionpage available, because...... and there it stops and
gives me no more information.
Now how to get IIS working so I can set up my pages?

I don't understand why it is not working, as I have had working a few
months earlier.

My situation is this: I have an ADSL connection with a routermodem
which can as well be used with a cable as wireless. I am connected to
it via a switch, as are 2 other pc's.

Before, I have 2 hubs and a modem which was not a router. My husband
thinks that is the problem, but I am not so sure.....

Thanks for any tips or help

Henny
