Hi, I have a small issue with an application that uses iis. The platform is
Server 2003 Small Business, iis6 obviously with .net2 installed. I have
created a new website and have created a new application pool so I can run
..net 2 and 1. The site uses aspx and I have allowed .net 2 to run. The site
works, I can browse and it returns pages but for some reason no icons are
present, I just get the red cross where they should be. I asked the vendor
what he thought; he had no idea but said that the icons are in the dll files.
Right.
So I have made a lot of effort searching this and can not even find anything
close.
My Exchange OWA and SharePoint works spot on, it returns pages and images.
Any ideas would be great please.
Many Thanks

Yes, images. So its a Red Cross where the image should be as if the image
file is missing from the directory.

If you look in the HTML source code (View->Source in Internet Explorer)
how does the reference look like?

Hi, Well it does sound kind of obvious from here but the image pionts to
Login/ResMgr.aspx?
The path is correct but there is no ResMgr.aspx? and I am unsure why the "?"
is appended. This is why I asked the vendor because I thought that I was
missing some files, he said other wise so I thought I may have neglected to
do something on the IIS config.

An image can have the extension aspx, and since the vendor said the image
was embedded in the dll file, it sounds like the web application is
responsible for generating the image. It is also not necessary that a file
exists, everything *can* work anyhow.
But there are a lot of missing information here that only the vendor knows
about, and i am sorry to say that i cannot help without knowing more about
how the web application works and what configurations it needs. I suggest
that you contact the vendor again and ask for support. Only they know how
IIS should be configured, and how their application works.
