Post subject: IIS 5.1 XP Pro wont display default page. ( all details here. )
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

This problem is posted all over the web but no one
appears to have a solution.

(1) The server is running.
(2) I have Typed the address in correctly.
(3) I am logged in as the administrator.
(4) I was able to ping the server with the
computer name anad the IP address.
(5) I am on a new Dell using MacFee virus scan, firewall,
etc...
(6) Ran netstat, there is only one entry listening on
port 80. Still tried changing the port ot 8080 with no
results.
(7) re-Installed IIS.
(6) Below is the Log from the Wfetch utility. Can someone
interpret this response?

Reusing existing connection (source port 3171)\n
REQUEST: **************\n
GET /default HTTP/1.1\r\n
Host: localhost\r\n
Accept: */*\r\n
\r\n
RESPONSE: **************\n
Aborting the current request...
finished.

(7)Running out of ideas, anyone got anything new?

Disable or remove Norton's or any other script blocking firewall or AV
software. Plus do this:

Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings ->
Uncheck everything.
