Post subject: IIS HTTP 500 Error - Not Page Related
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)
We are getting an HTTP 500 in our IIS logs that looks
similar to the following:

2003-09-04 17:39:17 IP ADDR - IP ADDR 80 - - - 500 -

These are usually found following a GET to a PDF document.

I setup a custom error handler for IIS and the HTTP 500
error, but it is not capturing these.

Are you seeing anything in Event Viewer? Does it always happen on the same
content? Can you reproduce the error?

Nothing that stands out in the event viewer related to
these errors.

The error is usually found following a GET to a PDF
document. I have also found instances where it follows a
GET to an image.

We have had a ton of them (10s of thousands a month)
today, and most are following .pdf documents from
different spots on the site.

Perhaps some other useful information:

1. Windows 2K server running IIS 5
2. The 500 error seems to be linked with the line right
before it (as they both have the same download time).
