IIS Error 127: the specified procedure is not found

I am having WinXP sp2 on my machine with IIS 5.1
Yesterday I found a problem when I try to start my word wide web
pubishing service on machine, it is giving an error

error 127:The specified procedure is not found

If I start iis admin service is working fine, what can be the problem

Hi,

Looks like there were a few Microsoft .NET updates that might have
caused this problem.

In fact, my machine did not have .NET 1.0 and 1.1 installed, yet
windows update recommended and installed the patches for those.
I got rid of those and it still did not work.

So, I did what I know best I re-installed IIS.

But, while doing so, you might end up with another problem.
If you have Windows XP SP 2 files, IIS installation may not work
It may get stuck on adsutil.vbs - the place to find that files is
%SystemRoot%\ServicePackFiles\i386
