To add to Yogita's comment, just a note that there are 4 files that you
cannot delete in inetsrv. Do not worry about these (they are supposed to
stay). The bigger question I have for you is whether your metabase was
"corrupt" or not... Customers often mistake the metabase as being corrupt
when in fact the problem is more related to missing objects such as keys.
For example, delete the w3svc key and try and start w3svc service and it
will fail. It (metabase) isn't corrupt, but instead just missing key
components needed to effectively start the service.
With that said, you can download Metabase Explorer 1.2 from the IIS 6
Resource Kit and use this to open your old metabase. If you have it...
Last, an IIS metabase is not corrupt if the IIS Admin service starts. This
is a sign of corruption is the IIS Admin fails to start. This is b/c the
metabase is read into memory when IIS Admin is started...
