Ok here is the problem. I cannot access the web page from the being run on.
I have two servers set up for applications. If I got to server1 and bring
up IE7 and type in server1 it brings up the under construction page, like I
want. I then type in server2 it brings up the under construction page.
This I want also. Now I got to server2, and bring up IE7, type in server1
and get under construction page. This is good. I then type in server2 and
it cannot find it, it brings up know searches from the internet. If it type
in the FDQN it does the same. Now when I try to bring up an application
website, say Virtual Server, it gives me a 502, bad gateway. I then went
back to server1, and brought up the Virtual server website for Server2. It
works fine then. I then bring up a application server1 and it works fine.
Go back to server2 and am able to bring up the application from server1. I
checked all the settings in IIS between both servers and they are setup
exactly the same. So why is it that I am not having problems with IIS
communication on server1 and cannot get server2 to access it's own space. I
need this to work on this computer for some of the applications to install.
Can anyone help with an answer to this?

From server2, can you ping the name server2 and get a response. You should
ensure that on server2 the name is resolving appropriately. Usually this
error is a communication error somewhere between servers on the internet
during the final communication process when accessing a website.
So I am a bit confused. Can you provide me with some more info like any
event log errors pertaining to IIS? Also, what exaclty these two servers are,
only Webservers, or DC??
Thanks

Rule out DNS and just use the IP for each server. Also, just double
check host/lmhost file entries(c:\windows\system32\drivers
\etc)...there
may be some legacy entries that is causing misdirection.....its

Well I did what you told me to do and realized that is where my problem lie.
As soon as I pinged server2, ot was showing me the 172.16.x.x address for
the perimeter network. So I disabled this adapter and I was able to get rid
of the 502 error. But that now leads me to my next problem. I am unable to
get the reports server webpage to come up. It keeps giving me 400 error
(bad request).
The two servers are application servers. I am trying to get SQL server
reporting working off of server2, plus it is also the Virtual server for the
perimeter network. Now how would I go about clearing the 400 error. I have
already removed Front Page server externsions due to it's Sharepoint tie in,
but this did not influence it at all.

So you are saying that I should type in http://<IP ADDRESS>/default.aspx?
Could I also use a header to route that to the specific IP address?

Figured it out. Changed it from the IP address to all connections, started
to work.
