1&1 Hosting. I need to point domains registered elsewhere ..

I was only stating that they sent me NS info. They have thousands of server
setups and probably use a number of nameservers.
You could keep emailing them or if they gave you IP's you could check the
Authorative Nameserver for them.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

If they do not provide you with name servers two things you can do
1. Does your registrar provide name servers, most do, simply use those and
point the A and mx records to your IP (I assume they gave you an IP#? - all
dedicateds have at least 1)
2. If your registrar does not provide name servers either switch to one who
does, or use a public dns such as zoneedit.com - free for the first five
domains.

There is another option of course, if you have bind on your dedicated you
can set up your own name servers and use those. Requires your registrar to
register the names eg ns1 and ns2.yourdomain.com

The last is not recommended unless no other choice as haveing both name
servers on the same physical machine defeats the purpose of having at least
one ns up if the other goes down. Also, if support is as slow as you say it
could take a while for them to issue you with at least one additional IP#
(required for dns.)<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

In the meantime, 123-reg offers web forwarding which doesn't require a=20
nameserver change.=20

I have to say after a dreadful start like yours with 1&1 I'd get another=20
host pronto!

Look at <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.jv-hosting.,net" target="_blank">www.jv-hosting.,net</a> for stupidly low prices. I keep a couple of=20

I am extrmely pleased with 1and1 after 4 days. I received emails (3-4)
with all the steps of what to do and even the nameservers to point to
if I did not transfer my domain registrar. The name server
information, plus everything other question, is listed within the
control panel anyway. Now for the good part...yes the control panel is
a bit slow...it does not crash or dump you out, it just takes 2-3
seconds for every click...now the best part, the web sites are served
extremely quick! Which would you rather have, fast control panel
(which you hardly use after first set up anyway) or fast servers with
snappy web pages? Uh huh, that's what I thought.

I can't believe it's free for 3 years:) Oh yeah last thing...not
only are pages served fast, the ftp uploads to your site happen
instantly. I use dreamweaver and my old host would lag for 5-6 seconds
sending even a 3k file up...sometimes it would dump me out of
Dreamweaver. Not with 1and1 though. I click "put" and my uploads are
there before I can blink my eyes...lol. What a great outfit but I do
admit my evaluation is about 4-5 days in length only.

Nah, I'm in the control panel all the time. I'm getting a little more
patient though because I'm actually slowing down and making less mistakes.

Such a deal, huh? It took me a little while to figure out the whole
system and that I could link to all the web features from any domain.
It's like having my own mini-shared-server. The email configuration got
me until I realized each account id is the mailbox id. That wasn't in
the FAQ.
