Hi, I'm looking for a hosting service.
It has to have:
- as much bandwidth as possible (in case the site turns popular)
- between 50 and 100 mb of storage space - 30 mb is great too.
- multiple domain names (sometimes called domain add-ons,
so I can host all my sites with one host)
- low cost $8,00 max (keeping it low until I'm making money from it)
- possible adult content (so I won't have anyone complaining
just in case I get a bright idea)
- some e-commerce features (ssl, shopping cart, mysql/database)
I'm also worried about the effect of virtual hosting on
my search engine placing. Therefore, I would prefer
no virtual hosting.
Does anyone have info about virtual hosting and it's impact
on placement?
So basically, I'm looking for a one-stop shop, that allows
me to grow and concentrate on my website.

And if think it's going to be reliable, or you're going to ever get any
support at that price, guess again.
One hour of support and all the profit on your account is gone.

Hmm..
That's what I love about this group.
Opinionated without experience.
I've been on board with this group, as a reseller too, for nearly 3 months
now. They were a different domain before but shortened the name.
I've had about 5 mins of downtime, in the middle of the night, for an
upgrade.
They're also on one of the fastest growing networks in the US. www.he.net
Everytime I've ever emailed them, there's always been a more than reasonable
response and resolve.
I could have just as easily recommened my own hosting, but...
Not allowed to do ads here
Besides..there's a trial period for a free look see.
You could join Verio I guess and wait on hold for about an hour only to be
told to wait some more.
sheesh

Responses, to let enquirer know of your services are perfectly acceptable
provided you can actually deliver to the spec in the o/p - as opposed to the
clowns that jump in with "I can do that - me too" posts when clearly they
can't.

www.budgetweb.com has/had a good search faclity so you could choose the
features you consider an absolute "must" and get a subset of their large

I've seen negative comments regarding search engines where frames are used
and web forwarding to some ISP-style URL is done, but not virtual hosting. >> Stay informed about: Looking for Hosting |

Probably the worst part about virtual hosting is if you get on the same
server as a "blacklisted" site. I've no evidence, but I have heard, that if
your site shares the same server as a blacklisted site, that your site could
be blacklisted also. I have never heard that it has any impact on search
engine placement.
You didn't say how many domains you need to host but if it's not too many I
think Page-zone will work...
300 MB space - 3 GB bandwidth - $6.95 month.

If you do proper due diligence before signing up, that's not likely to
happen. Just make sure you sign up with a host that enforces their AUP
against spammers. Many hosts have what appear to be a strong AUP in writing,
but don't enforce it, so check for the ISP in news.admin.net-abuse.sightings
and .email.

The bigger they are, the more likely they are to appear there. This does
not mean they support spammers as the evangelists would have you believe.

Hi Brian,
I'm taking all this in.
I don't have much experience with all the hosting options yet.
I would like to know: is there a big practical difference
when you're hosting on a server that uses windows, unix,
redhat, etc?

Thanks, they sound pretty good. Reading their FAQ,
they mention that you can host any adult content
that's legal in California and _Texas_.
I'm ok with California, but does anyone here
have any clue what is legal in Texas?
