Need a Web Host UK

Hi all,

I'm setting up a small business with the help of a simple web page "splash
page" to advertise its products. I am looking for a low cost setup to start
with. I went and registered a domain at 1&1 a few weeks ago and parked it
with them. I dont have a host at the moment and think I probably was a
little hasty since some hosts give you a free domain name with their
package. I dont think I will be going with 1&1 since I see there's a lot of
really cheap offers around. Excuse my ignorance on the subject but if I
transfer to a new host am I totally free of 1&1? are these hosts you see
in
google searches all genuine? because I'm new to this its a bit confusing I'm
in the UK so would appreciate some direction and advice on this.

I can most probs supply some space with FTP, ASP, Perl and PHP on my home
server... no domains though sorry!
