Hi,

I'm new to this whole thing (creating a business website) and would
like some advice on GoDaddy.

I'll be creating a website for my small business which will be used
primarily by the employees (5-10 individuals). The website I create
will need the following:

- RT (perl/SQL based ticket tracking software), which I will probably
have to install myself and requires Perl and MySQL
- wiki software (like MoinMoin Wiki)
- software distribution (we'll eventually be selling a piece of
software through the website, so, we'll need the capability to charge
customers who buy it through our website)
- email accounts and email forwarding for employees
- forum software (for discussions among employees)

I'll probably go for the "Deluxe" plan if I go with GoDaddy.

Any thoughts? And, any thoughts specific to the features I mention
above?

Thanks,
Don

ok, definately not godaddy, no disrespect to godaddy intended.

mkay, you need an account with multiple databases. like about 20. for every
one in live production, you need at least one for dev. and don't forget a
few to experiment with all kinds of neat open source software. you'll be
surprised how fast you run out of 20.

nope. go for Pair. they are my pick for midrange shared hosting and they run
a tight and responsive shop. you could check out my former fave Doteasy,
represents a small savings but it's Pair for you, hermano.

I use godaddy for a small online gaming guild website. it gets about
3000 page views and 150 unique vistors a day, it's running postnuke,
and can run pretty slow at times (usually no more then 25-30 max on
site at a time). Don't remember the last time we had downtime really.

I don't pay for the hosting or the domain so it's not my choice, but
other than some occasional slowness it's decent for small websites
considering how cheap it is. Don't think I'd use them for anything
critical.
