Hello again,

I'm trying to help out someone that seems to have mussed up
their phpBB installation, on account of using Front Page to
upload some files.

I generally avoid Front Page like I'd avoid a bubonic rat,
so I'm not too sure on what it does when it uploads some
files. However it seems to have dropped vti_cnf files
all over the place.

Anyway, will FP have done Evil Things to the .php files
themselvs, and if so, what?

rgds,
MP

Never use FP to upload with. Use a stand alone ftp client designed for that
purpose.

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.acehtml.com" target="_blank">www.acehtml.com</a> very similar to FP but without the problems and has many
features FP does not.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Me too ;o) and I manage a Windows hosting service.

yep, it does that

no - it shouldn't have touched anything already in place - unless the file
names were identical but then that's a problem with ftp too.

You're preaching to the converted! I've never used FP for anything,
let alone uploading files.

If he "saved" a PHP page with FP then I can almost guarantee that the page
was "re-written" to how FP wants it to be written and saved over the top of
the original.

FP is a great tool and has some powerful uses, sadly I can't think of any
web related ones.

I don't think he did this. I think he used the "publish" feature to upload
the PHP pages.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
