Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hi, I'm using basic ftp authentication for a group oaf users in an intranet.
When they access the ftp site they have to give a local windows account of
that server. With this account users are able to logon on that server.

Is it possible to use basic ftp-authentication so that they can not logon on
the server, but still do ftp on that server?

Thanks - Waldo

They have to log on to use FTP unless you use anonymous. But maybe if
you explained the problem better we could offer a solution. For
example, NTFS permissions can keep them from any files other than the
FTP structure.

the problem is: I want 2 persons have access to some private folders on a
ftp-server (I thougth that basic ftp-authentication was a good method for
that), but I do not want them to give the ability to logon on that server.
So, if they use the windowsaccount and password to access the private ftp
folders to logon on the server, they must receive an error message.

Use a third party FTP server then. Microsoft's FTP server uses
Windows accounts.
