Can IIS FTP over HTTP/HTTPS?

If you have a web page with a link <a href="ftp://...>click to download</a>
then yes, you can FTP over HTTP/S. This will require a FTP being setup,
allowing anonymous connections but I would not give them write privileges
anywhere without authentication.
If you are asking for something else then it's not clear.

IIS cannot, nor can any other product, FTP over HTTP/HTTPS. If it's
over HTTP, it's not <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://FTP." target="_blank">FTP.</a> They are both protocols, you can't use one
protocol over another, it doesn't work that way.

But if you ask whether files can be transferred over HTTP/HTTPS in a
manner similar to FTP, the answer is yes. Tell us what you want to do
and we can suggest ways to do it.

I took his question to possibly mean connecting to ftp from a web page for a
download which is why I gave an example. Nothing else made sense.

Hi,

Yes, it is true, this is not supported.

WebDav over SSL is one way to have a secure communication. A third-party
FTP server which do FTP over SSL is another way. Using VPN to secure the
communication is a third way.

Secure FTP is an option in a number of third party FTP servers but is
not available currently in Microsoft's FTP server.

IIS 6.0 ftp doens't support this yet. Finger cross for IIS 7.0

For now, like Kristofer said, secure the connection via VPN / IPSec, here's
the kb.
