Post subject: Experience with Globat.com
Archived from groups: alt>www>webmaster (more info?)

I switched my server to Globat.com and I'm experiencing greater load times of
about 4 seconds on some pages and also a frequent
message of "unable to find paramind.net" and then when I try to load it again,
I find it again.

I'm wondering why a server would give that "unable to find" message
sporadically.

Also, sometimes the page will load in a much shorter time, and then sometimes
it won't. Why?

Can someone recommended a good web host at under $10 a month?

I found this interesting list here:

http://hosting.edealseek.com/top-hosting-plan-comparison.htm

It includes:
StartLogic PowWeb iPowerWeb LunarPages
Globat Infinology Jumpline InterLand midPhase

It's where I got the idea to use Globat, but my experience has not
been satisfactory. I also frequently get "unable to find paramind.net"
The only thing that is great is the stats program they give.

I would like to know people's experience with any of these sites.
I used Interland and was happy with them but I was using an old
Icom account that had limited resources, so when they bought Icom
out, they didn't upgrade any packages.

LunarPages is excellent.

What criteria are you measuring them by? I thought
Globat was very good until I got a list of load times and
compared them with the Interland package. Do you actually
know what your load times are at many different times during
the day?

I feel like steering clear of Globat.com, considering their "limited time
offer" that "expires: [insert today's date here]". It's been like that for
several months now. I've checked in every now and then, just to confirm my
suspicion, and each time it shows the current date.

Most web hosts with cpanel and others provide the tats
programmes you use.
We do that and can provide hosting for $5 month for a
standard size site.
Of course, I can not recommend ourselves, that would have to
come from others:-)<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

To tell the truth I don't know about any of that stuff.
All I know is that, of the hosts you listed that I carry,
LunarPages is the only one that I never get any
complaints about.
