Hi Richard,
I'm sorry to say that the microsoft.public.inetserver.iis queue does have
the expertise you need to answer your question. That said, I did some
research and found one case with the same error as you are experiencing.
The support was quite extensive and from my reading there are some
pre-requisites. Please check the following:
1) Do you have WMP 9.0 installed? (Windows Media Player) If yes, this may
be the cause of the problem; consider uninstalling if possible.
2) What version of Internet Explorer are you running?
3) What version of the Microsoft Operating System are you running?
4) Is the problem limited to Internet Explorer or can it be reproduced in
Explorer as well?
The following notes represent the solution to an incident opened on Windows
ME, IE 6.0. The service affected was Explorer, rather than Internet
Explorer; when the customer clicked My Computer the error occurred. He was
not able to boot into Safe Mode to troubleshoot and he was not able to
uninstall WMP 9.0.
I don't know if the following will be helpful or not.
(KEY: A=Action; R=Result)
A: searching for msdxm.ocx
R: found in windows\system -- renamed to *.XOC
A: checking for:
-- mpdrmv2.dll -- still not found
-- 1033 -- renamed already
-- mpwmsdrm.dll -- not found
-- custsat.dll -- renamed to .BAD
-- wmpdxm.wmz (.*) -- already renamed
A: rebooting to normal to test again
R: NOW it is opening just fine !!
A: testing other folders -- My Documents, etc.
R: they all open just fine !!
A: recommended that he try installing WMP7.1 instead of 9 and also to NOT
install
the adaptec plug-in
If the above is not helpful, please let me know and I'll spend some time
researching the correct folder for you. My initial attempt was not
successful so I'll need to bring in some other resources if needed.
Thank you,
