I guess it wasn't a .co.uk then... (?)
Unfortunately, many of the domain registration prices get "skewed" depending
on where you are. You can get a .com domain for $9.99, $6.95, $2.95 when
you look around, but in the UK, many firms (even those which have UK and USA
offices) seem to charge silly prices, like 9.99 to 18 GBP (US$ 17.50 up).
In the same way, if I was to want a .co.uk then high prices would be seen,
if I was looking at rates from Go Daddy.com or similar N American firms.
It's easy to find some deal for just one TLD (and the rest of the prices
may be rubbish). But what I find silly is why this idiot posts about his
domain pricing in a FREE WEB HOSTING newsgroup... He posted a lot of ads
around that time... clearly cannot read English!
Good luck with your domain(s) and (free!) web hosting.
