We are using IIS6.0 and I am trying to make a default document for a virtual
driectory a path (/cgi-bin/index.asp) but get an error message stating that a
default document may not be part of a path? This used to work in IIS4.0 and
was wondering if anyone knows a workaround? Thanks in advance

Hello,

You can change this directly in the metabase. You want to modify DefaultDoc.
In IIS 6.0, the metabase is an XML file, and you can modify it using a text
editor, and set the DefaultDoc to example "Test\Default.htm". Make sure you
backup the metabase first, if you are unsure what you are doing.

Also, there is probably a reason why you cannot set this using the GUI. So
be careful.

now٬I get it.
I think you can only specify the defaultdoc filename. but not path.

Well, i tried, and it did work. But i could only get it to work with
subcategories. I could not move up one folder and use a file there.

So, "Test\Default.htm" works, but not "..\Default.htm".

The question is however if it works all the time, or if there are some
circumstances when it will not work (there has to be a reason why they
restrict this when using the GUI).
