I have a 2003 Small Business Server and the default
companyweb site is working locally, but not across the
network. The remote web workplace site isn't working at
all but the management sites are. At one point they were
all working but a user removed some of the files and then
the companyweb site wasn't working, but the remote web
workplace was. So I found on the knowledge base to remove
IIS from installed features and then re-install and that
is what brought us to our current situation. Anyhelp
would be greatly appreciated.

First explain what isn't working. If I told you my car
wouldn't start, would you know how to fix it?

Not working could mean many things:
1: The screen is blank
2: Half the page shows up
3: There is a useful error on the screen
4: Your network is broken
5: You are getting prompted for a username and password
and you don't know them

I could be here all day...

I have a uncle that doesn't work, but that doesn't mean
he's broken.

What are yoo expecting to see? What do you see? What
error do you get? Have you looked in the IIS logs? Have
you looked in the event logs?

You likely don't have to re-install if it is working
locally.

Hello,

I would recommend you to ask in the SBS newsgroup. companyweb is a bit
special...well, in fact SBS is a bit special.

Please give them information about:

What do you expect to happen?
What is happening? (Any error message? What do you see when you try to do
whatever you do?)
What did the user remove? (was it files the user had previously placed
there, or was it files placed there by the installation?)
What KB Article did you follow? (this information will help them understand
what you have already done)

You can find the SBS newsgroup here:

microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsServer2003/sbs/community/newsgroups/dgbrowser/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs" target="_blank">http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsServer2003/sbs/community/newsgroups/dg...wser/en</a>

Thank you for using the newsgroups!

So, what you're saying then is that when you try to access the web
site across the network, instead of displaying the page you think it
should, you're seeing the home page for Bob's Dumpster Rentals,
correct?

Or is it that when you try to access the site across the network,
Mabel in the next cubicle darts in and shuts off the monitor so you
can't see the site?

No, wait, maybe you're saying that when you access the site across the
network, the web server reboots and automatically launches the
recovery console, is that it?

Tell us *exactly* what happens. As Doug asked in his post. We don't
ask for more details just for our amusement. That's only a side
effect...

Jeff

Okay, if it worked, then a user removed files, and then it didn't --
wouldn't putting back the files make sense? If it works locally, it's
not an IIS issue so you may want to ask in a SBS group, you could be
dealing with an ISA configurations, DNS issues, or many other things.
And post details. Many details.
