That is a restriction in the UI, as a workaround, you can specify such paths
(and they work the same) directly in the metabase using adsutil/mdutil. Eg
adsutil set w3svc/1/root/path/DefaultDoc "directory1/default.htm"
We are currently trying to figure out whether the UI restriction makes
sense.
