Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I have just one quick question. I have a Customer that is running Windows
2003 Server, CFMX 7.0, and IIS 6.0. My Question is this "dose anyone know if
there is anything in the combonation of the software above that would Change
the Default Document in IIS. They claim all they did was reboot the server
and the default doc in IIS changed from index.cfm to Default.htm. Has this
happened to anyone else, I told the customer that someone would have had to
go into IIS to change that, am I wrong???

Hello Buzz,

As far as i know, none of the software listed by you changes the default
document. But you are wrong in saying that you need to go into IIS (Manager)
to change this. It can be done by code, and therefore any third-party
application can do it. It does however sound strange that a third-party
application would change this when the machine was rebooted, because there is
no requirement to reboot the server when this is changed. And if CFMX 7.0
changed this, it would most likely change it to index.cfm since that is the
extension related to ColdFusion.

When they rebooted, was it a successful reboot? Or did they reboot the
server because of an error? Have they recovered from an old backup?

Are they sure that they ever changed the default document from the default
Default.htm?
