Hey Tina,

you wrote you use SSI for the footer and only have to change it once
(I assume per year). I use the following

<!--#config timefmt="%Y" --><!--#echo var="DATE_LOCAL" -->

which automatically returns the current year. I haven't had to change
the copyright year ever since I implemented this solution.

I always believed you only update the copyright date if you make meaningful
changes to the content. If you do not add/edit any content, then there is
no need to add the current year.

That's what I like about Canadian Copyright law - you don't *have* to put a
copyright notice on them in order to hold the copyright. IIRC, the law says
something along the lines of "If you created it, you own the copyright -
period."

U.S. copyright law is the same. But people like to add the date and
explicitly state they are claiming ownership. But it is not required.
