Going with "VancouverChiropractor.com" wouldn't make any sense...
If somebody is in Richmond and was looking for a chiropractor they would
probably search Google (or whatever engine) for "Richmond chiropractor".
The same is for Surrey... Burnaby... Coquitlam... Delta... people are going
to search for what will get them results... By your logic you seem to think
that if somebody goes to Google and is looking for a certain business in
"Burnaby" they would instead search for Vancouver because its the nearest
big city.
When picking a domain name you might want to think about how the client is
mainly going to be drawing people to his/her website. If its by business
cards, yellow pages ads or advertising on the radio then you don't want a
long domain name and nor do you want one with dashes in it...
If they want the majority of their traffic to come from the internet then
you might want a domain name that is more search friendly and in this case
dashes won't really matter too much. But... you do have to consider where
the users are coming from. If he is hoping to draw users from outside the
Lower Mainland then maybe going with "Vancouver" would be handy because to
somebody in Tacoma, WA or Eugene, OR isn't going to know where Richmond
is... But if he is hoping to get most of the site users from within the
GVRD then he wouldn't want "Vancouver" because its misleading (Somebody
living at Denman and Beach who might want a chiropractor is probably going
to look for one in the English Bay area... they aren't going to search for
one out in Langley or Cloverdale... likewise somebody in Richmond might want
one down off Number 3 Road and has no interest in one located at Granville
and Broadway)
And... if they are mainly doing it for email then you might want to go with
something totally differnt that is easy to remember, like <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.drbob.com" target="_blank">www.drbob.com</a> or
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.VanChiro.com" target="_blank">www.VanChiro.com</a> or something like that where the domain name doesn't really
matter<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
