Recently while listening to a talkshow, an 'expert' on web ads
said that for every 10000 hits I should be getting a certain amount
of revenue on average. It occurred to me that I'm getting just about
half of that using Adsense.

Can anyone suggest a good alternative that will help me get
more like the average?

Thanks.

I've got multiple vertical google ads down the righthand side,
plus one banner at the top. And to my initial surprise,
that didn't make people stop coming to my site.
In fact I'm now getting 3000 hits per month excluding reloads.

I also get pageviews and clicks on pages within my site.
Most of those pages have only one right-side ad.

Mark, you're "cool" (refreshing non bullshit comments)

This is the first time I'v heard of the idea of reducing my current ads
(www.sworde.com) down to ONE? Smile

Hell IF IT WORKS? You're suggesting-it might bring my dismal per click
they're paying higher? I get about 300-400 impressions per day (Google
is reporting to me) and am not allowed to say how much I don't
make...uh... DON'T make Wink (not much) (TOS).

It just bugs me when I get high keyword hits paying pennies-makes me
want to rethink this whole thing

The "mark" I replied to
Mark Goodge,

-did create ideas I'v not seen elsewhere.

I'm up for reinventing a million times if necessary to improve the
model.

I want to explore this idea he suggested of one tiny ad per page-
if I understand it- somehow it creates a less competative environment
on my page(s)
as only the top bidder can appear-if its true-wow.... A means of
controlling the bid price on my page a bit?

i checked out your website (thanks)

Probably be trying it on my landing page (cutting # of adsense ads
down) to as small number of bidders as possible
