Post subject: Alternative to Miva Merchant?
Archived from groups: biz>ecommerce (more info?)

We have an ecommerce site with around 80 products. We are running Miva
Merchant 4.20 along with Worldpay to process orders.

The plus side of Miva is:
Lost of 3rd party modules available.

The negative side of Miva and the reason we are looking at alternetives:
We regularly get "call back errors" where WorldPay fails to notify Miva that
it has successfully accepted a credit card payment so Miva assumes the Order
was not placed and and dumps the basket contents. As a result we have to
phone the customer to ask them what products they ordered!!

Can anyone, from experience, recommend an alternative solution to the
unreliable Miva/Worldpay combination?

We need an ecommerce product that will integrate with Google pay per click
and overture so we can easily report on how pay per click adverts are
performing.

Thanks,

Paul

Howdy Paul,

Miva has been around quite a while and I suspect your problem is more likely
how it was installed and/or some tinkering around with the scripts. There
may also be a permissions problem where Miva can't write to a temporary
folder and it fails to report the error. Or you haven't looked to see
what's in the error log.

There's nothing wrong with Worldpay.

I have never lost an order with my BIZyCart Ecommerce Server. That's partly
because there is no scripting that can be messed with. All data is stored
and retrievable in a /Pending folder until it is finalized. Very few sites
using BIZyCart are running real-time transactions. They much prefer saving
the Gateway fees and using its secure E-Mail mode. They get a heads up
E-Mail copy of the invoice (without any card information) then log into a
secure interface to run the actual transaction.

A couple of years ago there was a BIG flap. Some people just for fun
searched Google for their credit card numbers and it displayed their card
number and the purchase details. The shopping cart saved the information
where it was accessible to the web crawlers and Google found it. It was a
busted version of the web crawler that didn't pay attention to robot.txt
