Post subject: Advice re webmail hosting?
Archived from groups: alt>www>webmaster (more info?)

Hello there,
Hope this time I'm posting to the proper group Smile
My question is pretty simple:
Because of an ugly firewall, I'm after opening email box(es) at a
host who provides basic port 80 HTTP front end to access the webmail. Do you
recommend any reasonably priced provider?
If nothing comes to mind, do you possibly know the proper technical
term that means "webmail host" so that one can google it?
Thank you very much,

Eli

have you considered a pretty firewall? maybe a pink one with shiny, sparkly
bits?

 > Do you recommend any reasonably priced provider?

Almost every host has a web interface to their mail server(s). pick one
based on other criteria you need and ask them about webmail.

Our provider (easyCGI.com) have a really cool web-based email client... it
looks and behaves very similar to Outlook, and runs very slick... we always
use it when we're away from home. It runs just like a regular web page. They
charge a few dollars a month for an email-only account (you'll need to buy a
domain name too, but that's only $10). If you want a demo, I can show you.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I believe the question is not about webmail....but webmail NOT on port 80
specifically, which most are. Does your host provide that?

I misread it actually.

My sincerest, most humblest apologies!

Do we offer it? I dunno, I'd have to ask one of the guys.

Not sure if this is exactly what you want but check out
<http://www.smileglobal.com/>

I use them for POP mail but they also have several webmail interfaces.
Dunno about the "basic port 80 HTTP front end" part.

I'm a customer, not part of the company. Wink
