Accepting credit cards is not a stretch for most small or medium-sized
businesses these days. While qualifying is a pretty low hurdle, the
applications are still a nightmare. Even the website that promises
"instant acceptance" is going to come after you for everything from
D&B number to references, sure as the sun doesn't shine where most
people keep such records. Still, joining the merchant account-holders
club is a goal that many aspire to, few attain, it seems.
I've written recently about alternatives to the merchant account -
most notably, PayPal's Website Payments Pro suite, featuring Direct
Payment. With this service from PayPal, one does not need a merchant
account to accept credit cards. But for many online merchants, there
is no substitute for the control that comes from owning every aspect
of the transaction, and keeping the customer 100% inside the borders
of their own website all the way through the checkout process.
For these merchants, QuickEStore happily recommeds AuthorizeNet. The
nightmarish application can be downloaded here. By using this form,
QuickEStore is your de facto reseller/partner, so any questions can be
directed to our support hotline, support.TakeThisOut@quickestore.com. Trust me,
this is a good thing!
Of course, accepting credit cards is only part of the equation. Once
you've sipped the merchant account nectar, you'll want a flexible and
affordable shopping cart that integrates tightly with the leading
payment processors/gateways. And please, see that it's all hosted on a
secure server in an environment that is conducive to safe shopping
(wouldn't want any viruses now, would we?).
QuickEStore is your one-stop shop for all of the above. See us for
our award-winning shopping cart software, a merchant account, and
secre hosting for your online presence. QuickEStore, the "E" is for

Keep in mind that authorize.net is only an electronic payment gateway
that connects you to the transaction processor (which authorizes /
declines the transaction or sends it over to the card association for
authorization or a decline.
A merchant account is still needed to accept credit cards as well. In
essence - two companies (the electronic payment gateway and the
merchant account provider).
