Operating System: Server 2003
Client XP
IIS: 6.0
Code VS 2005 C# Smart Client
All on current Service Paks.

I am running the site set up as SSL that requires client certificates. When
I have the require client certificates turned on I get an Access Denied 403
error on the downloading of the smart client portion. If I turn off the
"require client certificates" everything goes through just fine and the smart
client portion down loads like it should.

I assume this is a permission problem but I am lost as to what to look at
and how to set it up. I have seen a lot of post on Web Services having the
same issue, so I would assume this is along the same line.

Any insight would be helpful.

If you turn on "require client certificates" - does the client actually have
a valid certificate to present to the server?

Cheers

Yes it does we are required to have pki cards to log in with. I did solve
the problem. The no touch install smart client was in a virtual directory
below the upper level directory. On the Smart Client's virtual I turned off
"require client certificates" and it installed fine now. I am still also
challenged for my pki card as weel.
