Hello,
I want to find a site that can process payments from my small
ecommerce jewelry store. Basically, all I need is a site that can
take a dollar amount, and allow a customer to pay with a credit card.
Once that is done, I would like to know if the transaction succeeded
or failed (so then I know whether to deduct from my in-stock
quantity). I have my own shopping cart.

Can 2checkout.com do this? So far, I have looked at what little
documentation they have and I cannot find an API that takes only your
merchant id and an amount for processing.

If anyone has any experience with this, I am grateful for what you can
share, - Dave

Please let me know some more about your jewelry store.

Dave,

Yes, 2checkout.com can do this (may require you to send a bit more
information though). Most, if not all, payment gateways will have this type
of option where the customer will leave your site to provide the payment
information. They may require that you send more than just the merchant ID
and amount of the transaction though. Usually, payment gateways will want
for you to send the billing information minus the credit card information.

Most payment gateways will get back to you within 24 hours. If your current
cart is incapable of sending the extra billing information, I would suggest
contacting the support department and asking specifically what fields are
required or take a look at our shopping cart solution. We have already
integrated with the 2checkout.com's gateway so you would only have to enter
a minimal amount of information in order to go live.
