I tried to install this software but be careful because Norton
immediately told me it contained a virus. I find that really unacceptable.

It isn't a virus. This has been discussed here before. It is actually a
JavaScript that Norton seems to detect as a virus. Surprised\

Ok - call me nit-picky, but when Dylan says ...

It isn't a virus. This has been discussed here before

What difference does it make where it's been discussed.
I mean - it could be discussed all over the friggin' world
for that matter.

Obviously - the writer of the post somehow missed the
previous discussions - or he wouldn't be asking this
question in the first place. Therefore, This has been
discussed here before - means absolutely nothing.

Now if I had told you the differences in the first place there would be no
debate, would there? Surprised) The difference that I can think of is that
JavaScripts that block the right mouse button can easily be overcome,
whereas a virus could be much more effective at knocking out the context
menu ;o)

Right, so publicly falsely accusing 1st Page 2000 (the FREE software) of
containing a virus is acceptable?

Even if it did contain a virus, well there are hundreds out there in
existance, its quite possible for a .exe to be infected anywhere along the
route from developer to distributor, not all viruses are well known...

Is this an attempt at attribution? can you now see why top-posting is so
irritating.

If it has been discussed here then it is in the archive for all to find.
It's a valid point and when coupled with further notes of explanation (as
was the case here) it is also a helpful contribution.

This is usenet - it *is* 'all over the friggin' world'

 > Obviously - the writer of the post somehow missed the

maybe - maybe not - only the o/p could make such a statement

 > - or he wouldn't be asking this

that's quite a leap of logic - but one I will support your right to assert
even if I disagree with it.

 > Therefore, This has been

to you - apparently.

Is it reasonable to assume that posters on usenet have some knowledge of its
workings? I think so.
